BioOhio launches scholarship program
BioOhio has announced a new scholarship program aimed at meeting the financial needs of Ohio students that are pursuing a career in the biosciences field.
A BioOhio press release stated, “The connection between higher education and pursuing a bioscience career is without question. The availability of funds for a student to pursue a bioscience education, however, is sometimes less certain.”
BioOhio launched the BioOhio Annual Scholarship program, which will award four $1,250 scholarships in 2010 to Ohio high school seniors who will pursue a bioscience-related degree at an Ohio college or university. Applications are available at www.bioohio.com/Scholarship.aspx.
BioOhio established the BioOhio Scholarship Fund in October 2009 with $15,000. BioOhio’s contribution will be divided equally over the first three years of the scholarship fund, with plans on sustaining and increasing the fund through private, tax-deductible donations.
“Our hope is that through individual and corporate donations, we can increase both the number of awards and the dollar amount per award in coming years,” said BioOhio Director of Communications Matt Schutte.
The deadline for applications is March 19 and the four awardees will be announced on April 30. For additional information on applying for or donating to the BioOhio scholarship, visit www.bioohio.com/Scholarship.aspx.
